Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) told Fox News Sunday that Congress must use the power of the purse to defund the Departments of Justice (DOJ) and Homeland Security (DHS) to reform them. On X (formerly known as Twitter), Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) called Roy "absolutely correct" for calling for the defunding of of the government agencies.
"My colleague @chiproytx is absolutely correct. Congress must use our “power of the purse” and stop funding of DoJ, DHS, etc until reform and changes are made. Doing the same things over & over and expecting change is the definition of insanity. We must stop the weaponization and failures by these departments and agencies," tweeted Rep. Mills.

Rep. Mills recently appeared on Fox Business's Mornings with Maria, where he said the charging of former President Donald Trump right after new revelations coming from the House's investigations into President Biden and his son Hunter is intentional.
"Each time that there has been a new investigation or a new hearing, or Federal document 1023 released, they immediately go ahead and try to burn up a media cycle to cover down the Biden crime family. But now we are seeing where there is a continual weaponization by the Department of Justice, by [Attorney General] and the Biden Administration to try and go after their political opponents. At this point, it is hard to ignore that this is anything other than election interference," said Rep. Mills.
Similarly, Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) also expressed that he had "no faith" in the Department of Justice under Attorney General Merrick Garland appointing a Special Counsel to prosecute the Bidens, while Jack Smith's case against Trump is allowed to continue unabated.
In March, Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) called for the abolishment of the DOJ, FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), saying, "I don’t care if it takes every second of our time and every ounce of our energy. We either get this government back on our side or we defund and get rid of, abolish the FBI, the CDC, ATF, DOJ, every last one of them if they do not come to heel.”
