President Donald Trump (R) has been indicted again, and Democrats are celebrating the indictment, as Trump supporters are questioning the legal proceedings, and the critics are toeing the line between speculating on the indictment while slamming President Trump. Vice President Mike Pence (R), Trump's former running mate turned rival, is now criticizing Trump for putting “himself over the Constitution.”
In a statement regarding the indictment, Vice President Pence said that it “serves as an important reminder: anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States.”
“I will have more to say about the government’s case after reviewing the indictment,” he clarified.
While Vice President Pence did specify that President Trump is innocent until proven guilty, he did mention that having the ongoing indictment coincide with the election could prove harmful to Republicans.
“The former president is entitled to the presumption of innocence but with this indictment, his candidacy means more talk about January 6th and more distractions,” Vice President Pence expressed, explaining that “as Americans, his candidacy means less attention paid to Joe Biden’s disastrous economic policies afflicting millions across the United States and to the pattern of corruption with Hunter.”
Pence has struggled in the polls since announcing his candidacy, and in recent weeks, he’s amped up his political jabs to both President Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R).
After Governor DeSantis suggested that he could tap Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (D) to lead the CDC or FDA, Pence took issue with this.
Immediately taking to X to respond to Governor DeSantis’ suggestion, Pence argued, “when I am President, I will only consider Pro-Life Americans to lead FDA, CDC, or HHS.” Pence further commented that “to be clear, pro-abortion Democrats like RFK Jr. would not even make the list.”
