Cammack Excoriates FBI's Targeting of Catholics

It has recently come out that the FBI's targeting of Catholics as "extremists" involved multiple field offices despite Director Christopher Wray's insistence to the contrary. Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) appeared on Fox Business's Evening Edit, calling the affair "a fundamental attack on Americans as we know it" and a "weaponization of government in a nutshell."

Additionally, Rep. Cammack accused Director Wray of lying to Congress when he said only the Richmond, Virginia, FBI office produced the memo calling for the monitoring of Catholics. However, the New York Post noted the less-redacted version cited the Portland and Los Angeles offices as a liaison contact and information source, respectively. Wray also said he was to have been "aghast" when he saw the memo and ordered its withdrawal.

"We have Director Wray lying to Congress saying that there had only been one directive and one field office. That it was rogue, that it was a one-off situation. Yet the timeline and all the evidence through the transcribed interviews that we have conducted point to the fact that this was a directive from the Washington office that was carried out through multiple field offices. This is a fundamental attack on Americans as we know it. The freedom of religion is a fundamental right of our Constitutional republic," said Rep. Cammack.

Moreover, she called out the double standard in the FBI targeting Catholics while doing nothing against radical pro-abortionists firebombing crisis pregnancy centers after the overturning of Roe v. Wade last year.

"We saw the FBI sending in SWAT teams to arrest 82-year-old grandmothers who were praying outside of Planned Parenthoods. That seems a bit excessive to me, especially considering that my husband is a SWAT team member, who he himself said is ridiculous. That is absurd. And these types of tactics are being abused. That is the weaponization of government in a nutshell," Cammack concluded.
