Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis supporters have landed another well-placed and accurate jab on former President Donald Trump with a campaign video depicting the former president as supportive of the LGBTQA community, but Team DeSantis's apparent desperate attempt to knock President Trump jumps the political shark by pushing the video that asserts images comparing the Governor to a serial killer, a God from Greek mythology, and Wall Street fraudster.
Whoever is in charge of the Twitter handle DeSantis War Room needs to be slapped in the head for promoting this video, let alone fired for incompetency.
“To wrap up “Pride Month,” let’s hear from the politician who did more than any other Republican to celebrate it…”—DeSantis War Room
First of all, annoying, pulsating and distracting club music plays throughout the video
The video starts off by showing video archives of President Trump answering ‘Yes’ to a reporter asking him if Caitlyn Jenner should be able to use any bathroom she chooses.
Trump is also shown answering “yes” again to being asked if he would allow “transgendered women to compete in the Ms. Universe.”
So far so good, but only 25 seconds into the video, the video jumps the political shark.
For the balance of the video, media headline snippets and soundbites of legacy media outlets taking issue with DeSantis efforts to hold the LGBTQ community accountable for efforts to expose children to sexually explicit propaganda, sexualized books in schools, and sexualized events like drag shows.
In addition, there are really creepy snippets of DeSantis of being compared to bodybuilders and Actor Brad Pitt in his role as Achilles in the movie “Troy.”
Also, DeSantis is compared to actors Christian Bale who plays the role of a psychotic serial killer in the movie “American Psycho,” and Leonardo DiCaprio’s role as a securities swindling criminal in “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
I get that DeSantis’s apparent amateurish campaign staff wanted to look all “swoll” after the pro-family and anti-woke legislation that he has signed into law, but couldn’t they have promoted a video that compared him to Russel Crowe in “The Gladiator,” or Sylvester Stallone in “Rocky,” or even Bruce Willis in “Die Hard?”
This video is an utter failure and embarrassment that takes away from the indefensible pro-LGBTQ remarks Trump has made in the past.
The reaction to the ad against Trump has even pushed some DeSantis loyalists to question it.
What happened to the team that made this re-elect Governor DeSantis ad?!?! Why are you now producing an ad like he’s running for the nation of Iran? The use of imagery in the “Trump supports LGBT” ad is not good, especially the American Psycho one. Ugghh,” stated the pro-DeSantis Florida Grand Twitter handle.
“I spent the last 7 years of my life working with Trump to make the GOP a more welcoming place for gays WHILE ALSO being anti-groomer, anti-woke and pro religious liberty. I’ve even worked WITH DeSantis on this agenda. This ad is a slap in the face, and makes any LGBT person supporting DeSantis look like an absolute idiot,” stated David Leatherwood.
