Since announcing his presidential aspiration, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez (R) has attempted to distinguish himself from the ever-growing pool of Republican candidates. His campaign faced scrutiny from fellow Republicans, and though he’s not polling high, he’s trying to tread new ground in the race. The Suarez campaign has launched an artificial intelligence chatbot.

Last month, Mayor Suarez faced criticism over a snafu during an interview with Hugh Hewitt. Given that Suarez has presented himself as a candidate that, should he be elected, would be “strong on China,” he was asked what he would do regarding the treatment of Uyghur Muslims in the country. To this, Suarez questioned, “what’s a Uyghur?”

In response to the criticism, Suarez now maintains that he couldn’t hear the question.

In attempting to move onward from the controversy, Suarez has unveiled a new AI chatbot that will answer questions pertaining to him and his campaign.

A super PAC that supports Suarez’s run for the presidency launched the chatbot. The PAC, called SOS America PAC, unveiled a chatbot that will listen to the user’s questions, and it will match them to videos that are created by an AI-powered avatar that’s made to look like Miami Mayor Suarez.

In introducing itself, the bot says “Hi, I’m AI Francis Suarez.”

“You’ve probably heard that my namesake, conservative Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, is running for president,” the bot says, adding, “I’m here to answer questions you may have about Mayor Suarez’s proven agenda for economic prosperity, cutting spending and supporting our police. So, how can I help?”

Suarez is the third candidate to hail from Florida after President Donald Trump (R) and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R). Most recently, Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) has caused headlines over his supposed intention to run for the White House. However, he has not confirmed if he’ll be running for the White House.
