A recent Fox News poll suggested Americans' trust in institutions such as Congress, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Department of Justice (DOJ) has reached record lows. Representative Greg Steube (R-FL) on Fox's Cavuto Coast to Coast was not shocked at the poll, speaking with host Neil Cavuto on how House Republicans intend to restore trust.

"The American people do not trust the FBI & DOJ. It’s a major problem for our democracy. The House Republicans are committed to exposing and rooting out corruption," Rep. Steube tweeted.

The poll indicated 59% of respondents trust the FBI, while respondents were roughly split on the Department of Justice (51% trust, 49% do not). Rep. Steube stated he was among the skeptical as "all this information" about alleged corruption within the Biden family and within the FBI and DOJ continued to be brought to light.

"I obviously am skeptical too, because you're seeing all this information, this evidence, before the American people of all the corruption that is going on in the Biden family, the Department of Justice, and the FBI. And thankfully, the Republican majority in the House is bringing some light to all this evidence and bringing that to bear for the American people," said Steube.

What, then, Cavuto asked, should House Republicans do in order to restore trust?

Steube indicated the filing of impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray. However, he added a new President, and the passage of time, would ultimately be necessary for Americans to fully trust the FBI and DOJ once again.

"It is going to take time, and it is going to take a new administration to really right all the wrongs that have happened over the years. I mean this did not just happen in the last couple of years. This has been going on for decades in the DOJ and the FBI. Even during the Trump campaign, the Russian collusion hoax, the intelligence apparatus used to spy on citizens. So it is going to take a while for the American public to have confidence in the FBI and the DOJ," Steube continued.

Cavuto finally asked Steube if he believed there was sufficient evidence to impeach President Biden, which Steube called "overwhelming."
