Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) has introduced more legislation to counter the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and their “genocidal regime.” This time, the Florida legislator has brought forth the Stopping Genetic Monitoring by China Act, a bill dedicated to prohibiting China’s use of genetic material to abuse human rights.

In order to do so, the United States would have to cut off its supply of American genetic technology to the Chinese.

“America has no business aiding China’s crimes against humanity. We cannot allow Beijing to continue to use our technology to violate the human rights of its own people. That is why I am introducing the Stopping Genetic Monitoring by China Act. This bill would cut off the supply of American genetic technology to China, and it would send a clear message that we will not tolerate China’s abuse of human rights,” stated Sen. Rubio.

According to Sen. Rubio’s press release, China steals genetic data from Americans, while simultaneously “represses its own people” through the usage of genetic technology.

China claims this is a “crime-fighting” measure, but it includes forcefully taking said information from Uyghurs, Tibetans, and other ethnic groups.

Rubio believes that all of these factors pose a national security threat.

The Stopping Genetic Monitoring by China will add genetic sampling and testing kits, analytical technology, and software to the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security’s Commerce Control List.

Earlier this month, Rubio sent a letter to Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel concerning the pharmaceutical company’s recently announced relationship with China. This agreement would allow the communist regime to “research and manufacture new mRNA medicines,” as well as grant the country exclusive access to the intellectual property surrounding said medicines.

Sen. Rubio’s letter addresses these concerns, including whether the pharmaceutical company will protect technology “funded by American taxpayers to the tune of billions of dollars.”

In congruence with this stance against Moderna and China, Senator Rubio called for President Joe Biden (D) and his administration to combat the Chinese-Iranian oil partnership through the use of Executive Order 13846, which would expand sanctions on those who store Iranian oil. This would include ship-to-ship oil transfer operators, port-to-port operators, refineries, and even certain individuals and entities.
