Luna, Moskowitz Discuss UFO Hearing and Next Steps

Share

Former intelligence officer David Grusch appeared before the House Oversight Committee testifying on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs) or UFOs, alleging the Pentagon is hiding spacecraft and "biologics" of extraterrestrial origin. Representatives Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) and Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) made a joint appearance on MSNBC to discuss the hearing, pressing for greater transparency on the issue and what to do next.

Rep. Luna shared a clip of her take, speaking on her visit to Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, where she was "stonewalled," scolding the Pentagon for keeping investigations into UAPs under wraps when they present a potential threat to national security.

"How dare the Pentagon & our own military tell members of Oversight that we have no classification to look into these reports. The protection of the American people must always be put first no matter what," Rep. Luna tweeted.

"I would very much like to show the rest of my colleagues the information that I was shown at Eglin Air Force Base, of which we were initially stonewalled and prevented from seeing," said Luna in the clip.

"I think that that alone could really change the national discussion, but I also think that for those members that are investigating, how dare the Pentagon, how dare the military tell members of Oversight that we have no classification to look into this when it comes to the national defense and protecting the American people. So they need to stop playing games," Luna concluded.

Rep. Moskowitz, meanwhile, spoke primarily on the next steps and how there is a "bipartisan, bicameral interest in obtaining more documents and testimony on this matter."

"Today’s hearing on UAPs only marked the beginning of a continuing conversation. There is bipartisan, bicameral interest in obtaining more documents and testimony on this matter, and @RepLuna and I will be pushing for next steps," Rep. Moskowitz tweeted.

When asked about Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's (D-NY) plan to establish a commission on declassifying UFO-related documents and if it has support in the House, Moskowitz affirmed there was, saying "this is a bipartisan, nonpartisan effort," making his point by gesturing to himself and Luna.

"This is a bipartisan, nonpartisan effort. I mean, just after the hearing, a bunch of colleagues on both sides of the aisle gathered on the House floor to figure out what the next steps are. So this is not just bipartisan, it is bicameral, and this is something that has been going on for a long period of time. So yeah, there should be next steps. We should be getting the document that Mr. Grusch submitted to the Inspector General, we should be getting him in a skiff so we can get additional information, and the military needs to come forward, because at the end of the day, if we are wrong, and if these pilots are wrong, then the military should prove why there are wrong and how, rather than just not answering the question. The American people disclosure, the time has come," Moskowitz concluded.
