Florida Senators Rubio and Scott Introduce and Co-Sponsor Flurry of Legislation

Washington, D.C.- US Senators for Florida Marco Rubio and Rick Scott are sparing no time in this sweltering summer congressional session.

Together, the two senators sponsored and cosponsored a total of four different bills on July 11, 2023.

Both have led or participated in nearly one hundred different pieces of legislation in the months of June and July alone. The latest quartet of bills range from female lung cancer research to commercial space launch support.

Directly introduced by Senator Rubio, S.B 2245 seeks to compel an investigation into female lung cancer by the national government. Additionally, Rubio’s S.B 2232  creates a special framework for public support of commercial space exploration.

Senator Rick Scott and Rubio also jointly supported SB 2231, a legislative initiative to support stillbirth prevention and research. Additionally, Rubio continued his foreign diplomacy agenda roll-out by coalescing with Senator Chuck Grassley and Senator Gary Peters’ international affairs bill.

S.B. 2229 will “continue bringing transparency to foreign lobbying and protect the United States from foreign influence,” stated Rubio via twitter.

The legislation aims to hamper surreptitious lobbying against American interests by nefarious foreign agents. Senator Grassley and Peter’s bill will force “ individuals who formerly served as agents of foreign principals to register retroactively as foreign agents...with respect to activities carried out previously on behalf of such foreign principal.”

Rubio’s contribution to the bill is yet another link on his pro-Democracy and Western liberalism foreign diplomacy chain.

The Florida Senator has repeatedly opposed and denounced autocratic regimes' abuses of power and eagerly endorsed national security and foreign policy laws friendly to the West and its democracies.
