ROCHESTER, N.H.— Florida Governor and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis unveiled his 10-point ‘Declaration of Economic Independence' plan.

Anchoring his remarks on all of his economic accomplishments in Florida, Governor DeSantis said that if elected President of the United States of America, he we put the focus back on American exceptionalism and ingenuity, and take the proverbial political bat to government overreach, wasteful spending, and bureaucracy,

“I am running for President because we need to reverse the decline of this country and restore our country to the greatness that it deserves and that begins by restoring an American economy that actually works for American families again. And the reality is if you've seen over these many years, American families have been saddled with weak economic growth are high prices their quality of life has stagnated yet we've seen our national debt explode and the Chinese Communist party continues to eat this country's lunch,” said Gov. DeSantis.

One of the key points in his plan was his promise to reopen American energy. President Joe Biden shut down the Keystone XL pipeline the moment he took office, and has "kneecapped" American oil production, so the talk of bringing the energy independence the U.S. enjoyed during the Trump administration, is pivotal to winning voters.

DeSantis’s campaign sent out an outline of the “10 key pillars” in the governor’s economic plan:

1) Taking Back Control of our Economy from China and Restoring our Economic Sovereignty

2) Achieving 3% Growth by Incentivizing Investment, Eliminating Bureaucracy and Red Tape, and Keeping Taxes Low

3) Unleashing American Energy Independence

4) Ending Environmental, Social, and Governance Standards and Political Engineering by Large Investors

5) Restoring Merit and Respect for the Individual as the Central Criteria for Economic Advancement

6) Reforming our Education System and Lowering Barriers to Entry for Working Class Americans

7) Creating a Fair Labor Market by Securing the Border and Enforcing our Laws

8) Reining in the Federal Reserve

9) Opposing Bailouts and Holding Bad Economic Actors Responsible

10) Fighting Reckless and Wasteful Federal Spending

“I am going to fight for our future, and I am going to fight for out way of life. I will never back down, I will stand my ground. We will take back control of our national destiny, and we will ensure that this country enjoys a new birth of freedom,” stated DeSantis as he concluded his remarks about his economic plan.

The Floridian’s Chris Nelson was in attendance and asked DeSantis  if he would abolish the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and sign a Constitutional Amendment that would prevent any future shutdowns like the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown President Trump put in place.

As expected, DeSantis said that he would sign that legislative measure into law as president.

“I'm game for that you know, you send me that we'll sign,” said DeSantis.

DeSantis’s economic rollout is the political read meat he needed to offer early primary state, Republican voters. The latest polls, including the latest NYT/ Siena survey,  shows DeSantis struggling to catch up to former President Donald Trump, so this economic plan could help his ongoing campaign reboot.
