Cammack Says Democrats Don't Want Truth on Gender Reassignment Surgery for Minors

Share

During a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing, multiple Democrats walked out in protest when Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) made the case for prohibiting taxpayer-funded gender reassignment surgery for minors. Rep. Cammack discussed the hearing in a recent appearance on Fox and Friends, saying their refusal to listen proves Republicans' point on the nature of reassignment surgery.

Rep. Cammack attempted to play a video featuring testimony by Dr. Blair Peters, a Portland-based gender reassignment surgeon who admitted the procedures were still experimental and lacking sufficient research.

However, two House Democrats called for the adjourning of the meeting, saying the hearing had "turned into a circus."

Host Ainsley Earhardt asked Cammack why they called for the meeting's adjournment, to which she answered, "I think it is because it proves exactly what we have been saying all along."

"I think it is because it proves exactly what we have been saying all along, that this is experimental, that this is almost akin to a Frankenstein experiment on children. There is no consent that you can give as an adolescent to change your anatomy, particularly when in this video the surgeon himself admits that these kids in many cases have not had their first sexual experiences. How do they affirm what things are supposed to feel like and look like when they just do not know?" asked Cammack.

Earhardt pointed out that life-altering decisions like gender reassignment surgery, especially when children are involved, should be viewed from all sides, with experts and others afforded consideration. Cammack agreed, saying if she was a constituent of these Democrats' districts, "I would be asking and demanding answers."

"If I was a constituent in any one of those Democrats' districts, I would be asking and demanding answers. If you are going to take a science position, a data-backed position on whether or not to use billions of taxpayer dollars on these types of surgeries, wouldn't you want to know all of the facts?" Cammack continued.

She then encouraged viewers to do exactly that now that the surgery portion of the bill is blocked and will move to the House floor.

In Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has faced a legal battle after the state sought to remove gender reassignment surgery from Medicaid coverage.
