Cammack Blasts Green Energy Push, 'All About Dependency and Control'

Share

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and other states' Attorney Generals recently wrote a letter condemning a new emission rule proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to accelerate the push for electric vehicles (EVs). Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) appeared on Fox Business's Wall Street to discuss further, calling the Biden Administration's drive for green energy "all about dependency and control, not about sound economic policy or promoting the environment."

Additionally, Rep. Cammack stated the green energy industry as it currently stands is ironically unsustainable due to subsidization by the government, saying it "flies in the face of what they call "sustainability" as they push this Green New Deal across the country."

For example, despite Ford receiving subsidies totaling $9.2 billion to push for EVs, the company announced it would lay off over a thousand workers.

She unfavorably compared the green push to "Bidenomics," which Rep. Cammack described as living paycheck to paycheck rather than being able to invest in the future.

"As we've seen in Biden economics, it's all about paycheck to paycheck or paycheck to Wednesday and then borrowing the rest. That's where it leaves all of us in this whole Green New Deal push. It's all about dependency and control, not about sound economic policy or promoting the environment," Cammack continued.

Host Jackie DeAngelis pointed to critics who said the green push would be "playing right into the hands of China," as Moody's letter did, due to China's stranglehold on minerals needed for EV batteries and other electronic devices.

Cammack agreed, noting the further irony of manufacturing moving overseas to China and other countries such as Russia, Iran, and Venezuela that care little for the environment.

Furthermore, if green energy is to be economically viable, Cammack suggested the government back off and "let the private sector do its thing" without "regulators breathing down their neck."

"That's why I continue to say if we get the government out of the way of business, the innovators will do what they do best and create jobs. They will grow an entirely new industry in this space, but they can't do it with regulators breathing down their necks, and with the government continually subsidizing their competitors and pushing manufacturing offshore," Cammack concluded.

In June, Cammack's REINS Act passed the House, designed to prohibit Federal agencies from making major rulings without Congressional approval.
