Trump Flip Flops on Transgender Issue

Share

Former President Donald Trump could now be eating his words over comments he made in support of transgenders over a decade ago when he ran the Miss Universe pageant.

With the practice of gender affirmation or transitioning being encouraged and executed at a higher rate than ever before, the practice has now become political.

The late 2010s saw the issue being defined by bathroom usage, and what is the most appropriate way to deal with transgenders in the bathroom opposite of their biological sex, recently it has been defined by trans women being barred or allowed in women's sports.

Conservatives have held that biological men should not be allowed to compete against women for innate differences between the two respective sexes, but not Donald Trump.  In 2012, then-celebrity Trump who hosts the Miss USA beauty pageants made the controversial decision to allow a biological male to compete.

Trump did not only allow the transgender competitor into the event but also affirmed the participant's womanhood by using female pronouns.

Trump said in an interview in 2012 on the matter, "I said, 'let her run' and I think I made the right decision. I feel fine with the decision." Trump even claimed that, "she was entitled to compete."

When asked if he would allow further competition from transgender women in Miss Universe Trump gave a resounding, "Yes."

Trump's apparent switch on the issue from over 10 years ago is a stark contrast between him and his Republican primary opponent Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), whose claim to fame has been including battling transgender ideology in Florida, especially for Florida's youth.

DeSantis's presidential Super PAC, Never Back Down, has now put together a nifty video highlighting Trump's embrace of the transgender beauty contestant.
