Rubio Warns of Climate Change Extremists Entering the U.S.

Share

This week, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) is celebrating the release of his new book. However, Sen. Rubio is also sounding the alarm about foreign extremists that are making their way to the United States. Amidst environmental concerns, Sen. Rubio is calling on the Biden Administration to prevent Extinction Rebellion from entering the country.

Extinction Rebellion is Europe’s top climate activists and members of the group plan on entering the U.S. to participate in a “large-scale civil disobedience campaign” this summer. The campaign will allegedly play out during August, and the members will conduct highway blockages and hunger strikes, and they also plan on causing disruption at federal properties.”

Ahead of this, Rubio directed a letter to Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Christopher Wray and U.S. Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas about the steps they are going to implement to prevent the members from entering the U.S.

In the letter, Rubio writes that “among other things, the group will allegedly block highways and disrupt-federal properties, but violence and terrorist acts cannot be discounted given the group’s past threats.”

“In 2021, the spokesperson of an Extinction Rebellion affiliate previewed potential widespread violence, stating, “not only will pipelines be blown up, but we can be certain that world leaders will be put on trial for treason or worse – be killed.”

Rubio urges Wray and Mayorkas to provide answers on numerous pressing concerns.

Rubio questions the following:

  • What actions are the FBI and DHS taking to ensure that foreign nationals associated with radical climate groups are not permitted to enter the United States?

  • What actions are the FBI and DHS taking to ensure that radical climate groups cannot carry out attacks and foment civil unrest in the United States?

  • What actions are the FBI and DHS taking, or have taken, to identify members of this foreign extremist group?
