As controversy mounts around President Trump (R) and his current or pending indictments, Republicans like US Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), are pushing back and pointing out the alleged corruption of the Biden Administration and the sitting president himself.
Former President Donald Trump has now just faced his second indictment for keeping classified documents after his presidency. The controversy has been a long time coming now, as the FBI raided his home in Florida last year in pursuit of these documents.
Trump has battled his first indictment, as well as this one, saying it is a political witch hunt, much like the accusations of Russian collusion from 2016 that have since been proven false. Trump has also fought the accusations of corruption by deflecting it onto President Biden (D).
Often alone in his campaign to defend himself, Trump has pointed out widely accepted baggage of the Biden Administration, most notably the Hunter Biden laptop scandal. Trump has also accused Biden of having ties with the CCP and also retaining classified documents from his time as Vice President (2009-2017).
If Biden really did retain those documents when he was VP, the DOJ investigation of Trump would look a lot worse than it already does. Now, other Republicans are finally stepping up to the plate in Trump's defense, Congressman Gimenez being one of them.
"Really the more serious issues surrounding President Biden, and the allegations of bribery, the allegations of the millions of dollars that have been given to his family, there's a lot of smoke coming out of the White House," Gimenez said on Fox News. The Congressman added, "As a former firefighter I can tell you when there's a lot of smoke, there's probably a fire there."
Donald Trump, who is now the first former president to be indicted by the Department of Justice, will now have to face two indictments, and possibly more, during the wake of the 2024 Republican primary race.
