Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) went on the Meidas Touch Podcast to discuss what he believes is Republican hypocrisy when it comes to guns.

As law and order has been a major selling point for the GOP, Rep. Moskowitz asserts that the right’s emphasis on combating crime without addressing mass shootings is inconsistent with their political philosophy.

“And so, the idea that we can’t deliver a promise to parents that when they drop their kid off in the morning, they get to pick them up – the fact that we can’t deliver on their promise that’s a failure on us. It’s a failure on Congress. It’s a failure on elected officials. It’s a failure on governor’s and state legislatures everywhere,” stated Moskowitz.

Later on in the interview, the Florida Congressman provided his record concerning firearms and his attempts to reduce gun violence throughout the Sunshine State.

“I did this in Florida, I raised the age to buy any gun in the state of Florida to 21, I did that with Republicans. So we can do this, we can accomplish it. But we have to stay at it. We have to keep it top of mind. We have to continue to have a concerted effort.”

Finally, Moskowitz told those listening that the Democratic Party is the answer to “keeping kids safe.”

Joe Biden’s got to remind the American people that he’s going to keep your kids safe and if they elect the other party, who is for ghost guns for people who are mentally ill, printing a gun in your home – a terrorist can do that, someone who’s mentally ill can do that, a felon can do that. That’s what their party wants.”

In 2022, Moskowitz won election to the U.S. House by just under five points.
