Eagle Pass, TX—Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis rolled out his response to the “Biden Border Crisis” or “Invasion” as he has put it, outlining what he will do to secure the border with Mexico, and go after the Mexican drug cartels, if he becomes President in 2024.

During a press conference with Rep. Chip Roy (R), Gov. DeSantis acknowledged that he supported some of former President Trump’s immigration policies, like the “Remain in Mexico” initiative, but said that not enough was done to curb the illegal immigration crisis during the Trump years.

While he appeared to take subtle jabs at President Trump, DeSantis’s main focus was President Joe Biden’s failing immigration policy that has lead to tens of thousands of Americans dying from fentanyl overdoses that stemmed from illegal drugs streaming over the border, and the growing human trafficking component of the illegal immigration problem.

DeSantis said that on Day 1 of his administration, he would “create adequate rules of engagement” that will allow law enforcement, and possibly the US military, to use deadly force and leave criminals “stone cold dead.”

“So we're gonna create adequate rules of engagement. If somebody were breaking into your house to do something bad, you wouldn't respond with force yet.  Why don't we do that at the southern border? So, if the cartels are cutting through the border wall trying to run product into this country, they're gonna end up stone cold dead,” said DeSantis

DeSantis also went on to say that “adequate sanction” or sanctions needed to also be put in place to help keep immigrants from attempting to cross over the border illegally in the first place

In addition, DeSantis accused the Biden Administration of being a “critical link” in the aforementioned human trafficking aspect of the border crisis, saying that Biden’s “soft policies and softer public statements” have served as an open door for migrants thinking of coming to the U.S.

In his “Stop the Invasion” mission posted on his presidential website, DeSantis takes another jab at Trump, by saying that without any excuses, he will build and complete the border wall that Trump started.

As president I will put an end to this moral and humanitarian catastrophe by shutting down illegal entries and building the wall, once and for all. There are more than 600 miles of the US-Mexico border without an effective barrier to illegal crossings: I will use every ounce of my executive power and political capital to get the wall built,” states the website., a
