Governor and presidential candidate Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has released a minute-long campaign advertisement regarding the border crisis and his plan to address it.
The ad showcased a multitude of sound bites including one that stated, “The crisis at the southern border: a record 2.76 million migrants crossed the border during the 2022 fiscal year, shattering the previous annual record by more than one million.”
Another sound bite stated, “Drugs coming across the border here are fueling an unprecedented epidemic across the country, the toll of which can be counted in the skyrocketing number of overdose deaths,” as reported by the Daily Caller.
At the end of the promotion of the DeSantis campaign, the text states, “We will secure the border. We will stop the cartels. We will build the wall. We will stop the invasion. No excuses.”
In May, Gov. DeSantis deployed both police and military assets to assist the state of Texas in its attempt to help defend its border.
“The impacts of Biden’s Border Crisis are felt by communities across the nation, and the federal government’s abdication of duty undermines the sovereignty of our country and the rule of law,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “At my direction, state agencies including law enforcement and the Florida National Guard are being deployed to Texas, with assets including personnel, boats, and planes. While Biden ignores the crisis he created, Florida stands ready to help Texas respond to this crisis."
Now as a political candidate, Gov. DeSantis has been critical of former President Donald Trump’s (R) unsuccessful attempts to fund the building of the wall and completely secure the border while he was in office.
This includes DeSantis’s “rapid response” for the DeSantis campaign, which is led by Christina Pushaw falsely claiming that “We wouldn’t have a Biden border crisis today if we had a wall as promised.”
If Trump built the wall, why isn’t there a wall on the border right now?

Moreover, DeSantis has stated that he will finish the wall if he sits in the Oval Office.
“If I’m President, we will, because we’ll declare a national emergency on day one, we’ll mobilize the military, we’ll mobilize resources as that emergency declaration would allow us to do, and we will not take no for an answer. But you’ve got to be willing to do that on day one. You’ve got to be disciplined about it. You got to be relentless to make sure it gets done,” the Florida governor stated.
He also mentioned that he would use military action against the Mexican drug cartels (in congruence with the concluding statements of the recent ad).
However, DeSantis has been consistent in terms of his support of Trump’s immigration policies such as the “Remain in Mexico” strategy.
The two Republican juggernauts are slated to square off in the first Republican presidential primary debate in August.
