DeSantis Campaigns in South Carolina, Established Clear Momentum

Share

Presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) kicked off the South Carolina leg of his campaign in the city of Bluffton with about 1,000 attendees making their way to see the Florida Governor.

Similar to the Iowa electorate, many of those who attended the DeSantis rally were Trump supporters that came to “listen to what he has to say” as one South Carolina spectator stated.

The mood within Republican circles is “anybody but Biden.” And with optimism surrounding the DeSantis platform, there appears to be an acceptance, an openness to the idea of “America’s Governor” becoming the Republican nominee.

Perhaps not this election cycle, but in the next one.

According to The Floridian’s Boots on the ground, Publisher Javier Manjarres, some attendees didn’t like the fact that DeSantis decided not to wait until 2028. However, most of those in the “wait for ’28 camp” still came to see him speak because they see the potential that DeSantis maintains.

One Trump supporter called DeSantis “the future of the Republican Party and the future of America.”

Even though there is positive momentum surrounding the DeSantis campaign, the top dog in the Grand Old Party is still former President Donald Trump. But if the Iowa and South Carolina electorate represent the broader feeling of Republicans in America, then DeSantis is the clear second choice.

"Joseph," another current Trump supporter stated that he wants to listen to all the candidates and make a decision “based on information.”

“Big Trump supporter, Trump 100%, but I wanted to come to see what DeSantis has to say because I think we need to listen to what all candidates have to say and keep an open mind. I make a decision based on information. And the second we stop listening to all the candidates, we become just like the other side and become pre-programmed sheep," said Joseph.

Joseph also agreed that DeSantis is a viable second choice.

Moreover, it wouldn’t be a presidential campaign without protestors (some of which use foul language).

Some signs stated, “No book bans here!” and “Ron, have a gay, gay, gay, gay day.”

While in South Carolina, Gov. DeSantis took on some of the protestors that interrupted his speech.

“We’re not going let you impose an agenda on our kids. We’re going stand up for our kids! … Those people like that in Florida are the people we beat every single day,” stated DeSantis.
