Conservatives Win Again as SCOTUS Bans Biden Student Loan Repayment Plan

Share

WASHINGTON D.C.- On Friday, June 30, the United States Supreme Court again handed down big political wins for conservatives.

It had not been 24 hours since the Supreme Court derogated public affirmative action policies when fresh decisions emerged enshrining religious freedom and nullifying President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan.

In Biden v Nebraska, the supreme court ruled Biden’s loan forgiveness plan was unconstitutional. Biden had attempted to exploit the HEROES act to execute his loan forgiveness plan. The HEROES act was originally intended to permit the US Secretary of Education to delay military troop’s student debt during national emergencies.

The court’s decision negated Biden’s plan, stating that “the HEROES Act provides no authorization for the Secretary’s plan even when examined using the ordinary tools of statutory interpretation—let alone ‘clear congressional authorization’ for such a program.”

In 303 Creative v Elenis, religious freedoms and speech rights were protected from state laws undermining them. Similar to an infamous legal row over forcing a Christian bakery bake ‘gay’ cakes, Elenis featured a Colorado law that would force a Christian wedding planner to also plan weddings for gay couples.

The court, relying on Free Speech rights, struck down Colorado’s law as unconstitutional. “The First Amendment protects an individual’s right to speak his mind regardless of whether the government considers his speech sensible and well intentioned or deeply “misguided,” stated Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch.

Progressives are in disarray as a cascade of recent court decisions has dealt victories for conservatives regarding limited government, religious freedom, education, and healthcare. Democrat calls for packing the Court with a progressive justice majority as well as for installing term limits have increased.

Florida COngressman Maxwell Frost is campaigning to “end lifetime appointments on the court.”

Conservatives have defended the supreme court’s rulings and chastised Democrats’ responses.

Florida Congressman Byron Donalds warned that “Undermining the High Court's rulings undermines our Constitutional Republic.”

“It's rogue to say we must pack the court and implement term limits for Justices,” said Congressman Donalds.

Regarding loan forgiveness, Florida Congresswoman Shelia Cherfilus McCormick referred to the ruling with disdain.

“It is deeply disconcerting that a right-wing majority of the Supreme Court has put the economic well-being of millions of Americans in limbo,” stated Congresswoman McCormick. McCormick further requested the Biden administration seek alternate avenues to fulfill his promise to students. She urged “President Biden and Secretary Cardona to explore all potential vehicles for providing much-needed financial relief.”

Meanwhile, Florida Senator Marco Rubio reminded supporters that “The Biden plan was an unfair burden on America’s working families and a wealth transfer to the Democrat's base.”
