Trump Team Says DeSantis is Sinking in Polls

Share

The Trump Team continues to direct choice words at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), pointing to recent polls showing the Governor polling low. In a message sent to supporters, the Trump Team indicates that DeSantis is "burning through cash just to slide further in the polls."

Since the culmination of the 2022 midterm election, President Trump has criticized Governor DeSantis. Despite DeSantis not announcing his candidacy, Trump has launched several attacks against his former political friend, dubbing him "Ron DeSanctimonious."

This week, the Trump team released a message indicating that recent polls suggest "the complete collapse of his position in the GOP nomination for President" while also showing that he has the opportunity of defeating President Joe Biden (D).

The message highlights that several polls indicate that President Trump is gaining "his widest margin yet over Ron DeSantis." According to CBS News and Morning Consult, Trump leads DeSantis 36 to 34 points. According to Emerson, Trump defeats DeSantis with a 62% to 16%. Fox News has Trump winning by 32%, and, in a general election, Rasmussen has President Trump with a 7-point lead of 48% to 41% over the president. President Trump also has a 5 point lead over President Biden in a Harvard/Harris poll.

The team argues that this information is incredibly damaging to the DeSantis administration for several reasons, including the financial repercussions of the DeSantis Team. The Trump team lists the DeSantis camp as having made the following contributions:

- Over $1 million on TV in Iowa

- Nearly $1 million on TV in New Hampshire

- Over $1.3 million on TV in South Carolina

- Over $500,000 on TV in Nevada

- Over $3.5 million on a national network cable buy

Cumulatively, Never Back Down, DeSantis' Super PAC, has invested over $7.2 million in television ads over the last 3 years. However, the $7.2 million does not include other materials such as pieces of voter contact mail that was sent to Republican primary voters in multiple state.
