This week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) announced his candidacy for the presidency. He made the announcement during a Twitter Spaces talk with Elon Musk. However, some are criticizing the announcement for the technical difficulties. While Democrats are laughing at the technical difficulties, the DeSantis Team instead calls it a sign of “enthusiasm” for DeSantis.

It didn’t take long for Republicans and Democrats alike to chime in on DeSantis’ presidential announcement. Often spoken of as the worst kept secret, DeSantis’ presidential aspirations were finally announced during a Twitter Spaces talk with Elon Musk.

Given the number of technical difficulties during the livestream, the Biden-Harris campaign was the first to comment on the announcement.

Sharing a link to their website on social media, the Biden-Harris campaign captioned it with “this link works.”

Though the technical difficulties did affect the announcement, the DeSantis Team isn’t worried about the snafu.

In a comment, Bryan Griffin, the Press Secretary for DeSantis, attributed the technical difficulties to “enthusiasm” over DeSantis’ announcement. “There was so much enthusiasm for Governor DeSantis’ vision for our Great American Comeback that he literally busted up the internet,” explained Griffin.

Griffin went on to say that “Washington is next.”

Just one hour after making his announcement, the DeSantis campaign raised $1 million.

President Donald Trump (R) is still the frontrunner in the GOP primary. Taking to Truth Social to comment on DeSantis’ presidential rollout, Trump called it a “disaster.”

“Wow. The DeSanctus TWITTER launch is a DISASTER!” Trump wrote on his social media platform, adding that DeSantis’ “whole campaign will be a disaster. WATCH!”

Trump chided DeSantis ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, dubbing him “Ron DeSanctimonious,” but DeSantis has steered clear from directly criticizing Trump, who endorsed his gubernatorial run.

As DeSantis looks to distinguish himself in a crowded primary race, voters are looking at the debates that lie ahead.
