During a press conference in Miami, Florida, The Floridian asked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis if he was put in an executive position to affect national immigration policy and if he would build the border wall and use the US military to proactively target Mexican drug cartels.
"Yes and Yes," said Governor DeSantis, affirming that he would go after the drug cartels using the US military, and would resume the construction of the Trump border security wall President Joe Biden put a stop to when he took office in 2019.
"I've always supported the wall because it's such a big border, you can have border protection, you can never be able to have enough," said Gov. DeSantis. "Cartels will direct people where there's surveillance, so you have to have that. I think it's important."
DeSantis also said that he is willing to send "our Florida guys down to the border and get them building the wall, and they will do it very quickly."
Florida Reps. Cory Mills and Michael Waltz, along with Texas Reps. Dan Crenshaw and Vicente Gonzalez (D), have all said they supported the use of Military force against the cartels. Reps. Waltz and Crenshaw recently filed legislation to do so.
