2024 Presidential Election

DeSantis Says GOP 'Developed a Culture of Losing' Over Last Couple of Elections

Days after returning from a successful pre-presidential campaign trip to Iowa, Gov. Ron DeSantis addressed the recent remarks he made that the Republican Party had embraced a “culture of losing” over the past several election cycles.

Gov. DeSantis made the remarks at a bill signing in Sarasota, Florida, where he outlined exactly why he believes that the Republican Party, as a whole, has been bogged down as a result of losing consecutive elections.

In 2018 we lost the house. We lost the Senate in 2020. Biden becomes president and has done a huge amount of damage,” said Gov. DeSantis. “We were supposed to have this big “red wave,” and other than like  Florida and Iowa, I didn't see a red wave across this country.”

DeSantis then reiterated his assertion that the GOP was on a losing streak.

“I think the party has developed a culture of losing. I think that there's no accountability, and I think in Florida we really showed what it takes to not just win, win big, and then deliver big,” added DeSantis.

DeSantis is expected to announce his bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination in the coming weeks.

Currently, former President Donald Trump is the hands-on favorite to win the nomination, but DeSantis has been creeping up in the polls, leaving many voters, talking heads, and media types to question if Trump really is invincible.

DeSantis is widely seen as the heir apparent to Trump and the future of the Republican Party, with many Trump supporters believing that DeSantis should wait until 2028 to run for President.
