Steube '100%' in Favor of Military Action Against Mexican Cartels

Share

Following Representative Michael Waltz (R-FL) and former President Donald Trump (R) lead about the U.S. using military action against Mexican drug cartels, Representative Greg Steube (R-FL) has stated that he is also in favor of going after the cartels in the same way.

Rep. Steube was asked if there would be any limitation to going after the some of the most ruthless – and successful – organized crime organizations below the border.

“No,” stated Rep. Steube. “They’re killing hundreds of thousands of Americans every single year just in the fentanyl that they’re trafficking, let alone sex trafficking, child trafficking, the lawlessness – I wholeheartedly support [military intervention].”

Rep. Steube also stated that he would be in favor of designating the cartels as terrorist organizations, giving the United States government more agency to go after these groups.

Steube said he was in favor of the idea “100%," alongside military action.

Moreover, we asked what Republicans can do in order to curtail some of the dysfunction at the southern border, despite not having control of the White House or the Senate.

“In my opinion, we can use the appropriations process to accomplish those policy objectives…What Republicans can do in the House is cut funding to agencies that are not following the law as it relates to the border and put policy writers on the HHS (Health and Human Services) appropriations bill that says things like ‘not a single dollar of this fund shall be given to allow an illegal immigrant to come into our country,’” stated Steube.

Steube mentioned as well that they could get things accomplished “by taking a very strong stand on something.”

“I think there are conservative principles that can stem the tide of lawlessness at the border that we can do through the appropriations process. Now is the Senate going to go along with that? Probably not. But we may be able to get negotiations and some things accomplished by taking a very strong stand on something.”

This is Rep. Steube’s third term in Congress, and recently endorsed former President Trump over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
