Scott Suggests Fiscal Solutions to Fix America's 'Broken Status Quo'

Share

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) has delivered his comments regarding the recent Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data drop. According to Sen. Scott, the inflation crisis is still ongoing and problematic to Americans around the country.

According to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), March’s numbers over the year have shown a 5% increase in inflation, and a staggering 15.4% increase since President Joe Biden (D) took office in January of 2021.

Prices of household items, such as flour (+17.5%), have risen over the past year in staggering fashion.

Eggs have gone up 36%, lunchmeat up 10.5%, and butter 17.3%, just to name a few.

Household products as a whole have gone up 12.2% in the past year.

“I grew up poor, lived in public housing and watched my parents struggle to provide for us. I think about that and what my mom went through every day as I travel around Florida and hear from families about how inflation is making it nearly impossible to make ends meet,” stated Sen. Scott.

He would go on to mention that President Biden is disregarding the opportunity to address these problems, while offering solutions of his own.

“Now, by ignoring the opportunity to fix this with the debt ceiling, Biden is showing he has no plan to get America's fiscal house in order. We can’t accept that. Now is the time to make structural spending reforms that bring fiscal sanity back to America.”

Scott suggests that the government starts to implement work requirements in order for citizens to receive the benefits of federal programs, and that it is time to “slash the bureaucracy” to unleash the potential of American businesses.

“Now is the time to make sure we get Americans back to work and put real work requirements on federal programs. Now is the time to slash the bureaucracy so American business can boom again and untie itself from the mass of red tape from Washington’s burdensome regulations.”

Scott concluded that with these efforts, America could separate its relationship with the “broken status quo.”

“If we don’t do these things, stop reckless spending, balance the budget and grow our economy—inflation will continue to plague the bank accounts of families everywhere. American families deserve better than this broken status quo.”

In March, Sen. Scott introduced the No CORRUPTION Act, a bipartisan bill which would bar members of Congress convicted of felonies to receive pensions funded by taxpayers.
