Mills Endorses Trump, Helps Fuel Former President's Campaign Momentum Over DeSantis

Share

Former President Donald Trump has scored another congressional endorsement. Rep. Cory Mills, a former military contractor and Army veteran, has moved up his endorsement of the former president, saying that Americans needed to “come together and unify” behind Trump.

“We need to stop the infighting and come together and unify. And I think right now the person that we need to be unifying behind is President Trump,” said Rep. Mills

The Floridian has learned that the endorsement was moved up by a couple of months.

With his recent indictment and arrest by the so-called "Soros-backed" Manhattan DA Alvin Briggs, Trump is feeling a "yuge" momentum swing in his favor moving into summer.

Rep. Mills’ endorsement of Trump comes off the heels of Rep. Byron Donalds’ show of support for the former President, where the popular congressman from Southwest Florida stated that Trump was the “one leader at this time in our nation’s history who can seize this moment and deliver what we need.”

“There is only one leader at this time in our nation’s history who can seize this moment and deliver what we need - to get us back on track, provide strength and resolve, and Make America Great Again. That is why I am honored to endorse President Donald J. Trump for President in 2024, and I ask my fellow Americans to join me today,” said Rep. Donalds.

On March 21-23, The Floridian conducted a face-to-face poll with 14 of the 20 members of Florida’s Republican congressional delegation, asking them if they supported DeSantis or Trump in a hypothetical 2024 GOP presidential primary race.

All 14 of the lawmakers we spoke to asked that we not include their names in this story for fear of retribution, and or criticism. Reps. Matt Gaetz and Anna Paulina Luna have already endorsed President Trump.

Trump received 6 votes while DeSantis received 3. Interestingly enough, 5 members, who all supported Trump in 2020,  said they were undecided.

“If you were to ask constituents in my district, they would tell you that they believe it’s time to move on,” said one lawmaker.

Several of the lawmakers we polled, who said they were undecided between DeSantis and Trump, may have shifted their support back to Trump, and expected to publicly state their support for the former president in the coming month.

DeSantis is widely expected to announce his presidential candidacy next month.
