Independent Reporter Assaulted by CBS News Audio Man in New York

Share

New York - Independent Reporter Oren Levy, known on Twitter as @ViralNewsNY and @LeeroyPress, was attacked this morning while covering the arraignment of President Donald Trump at Collect Pond Park in New York City.

"While I was filming a camera man from CBS News started elbowing me on purpose. Then he tried to make me spill my coffee. I asked him to chill. He then started attacking me and told me he was going to kill me."

The video of Levy being assaulted quickly went viral.

Levy told the Floridian the man who attacked him works for CBS News and was with CBS Reporter Roxanna Saberi. In a video exclusively obtained by The Floridian, Saberi is heard telling Levy the man's name is Joe. When Levy asked Saberi what the man's last name is she replied she does not know. "He's your camera man. You should know," Levy is heard saying to Saberi in the video.

Levy told the Floridian he reported the incident to police but "they didn't do sh--".

Levy's videos of the 2020 BLM Riots, Anti-Lockdown demonstrations and interviews have been widely shared across social media platforms and in media. The rise of independent reporting like Levy's has been helped by Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter and the end to oppressive censorship previously experienced on the platform.

The Floridian reached out to Saberi for comment but has not gotten a reply at the time of this story's publishing.
