Gaetz Introduces Resolution of Inquiry into Ukraine

One of the most important pieces of information found in the documents leaked from Air Force Guardsman Jack Teixeira is that there are currently 14 U.S. troops in Ukraine, supposedly without congressional authorization.

Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has introduced a Privileged Resolution of Inquiry in order to ascertain a complete picture of American involvement in the besieged country.

Under this resolution, the Biden Administration must give the House of Representatives any and all documents pertaining to what the United States plans to do for Ukraine within two weeks of its adoption. Additionally, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin must disclose how many Armed Services personnel are present, should any remain, within the same time frame.

In his press release, Rep. Gaetz accused the Biden Administration of "misleading the world on the state of the war in Ukraine."

"The Biden Administration and other allied countries have been misleading the world on the state of the war in Ukraine. There must be total transparency from this administration to the American people when they are gambling war with a nuclear adversary by having special forces operating in Ukraine," said Rep. Gaetz.

Gaetz has long been skeptical of American involvement in the country due in no small part to its infamy for political corruption.

In January, Gaetz responded to anti-corruption crackdowns by President Volodymyr Zelensky, "There is no amount of "purges" that will suddenly make me support giving money to Ukraine."

"There is no amount of "purges" that will suddenly make me support giving money to Ukraine. Ukraine has been corrupt for decades. We don’t even give money to American agencies without oversight, so why would we do the same with Ukraine?" said Gaetz.

Later at the end of February, Gaetz questioned Inspector General Robert Storch on monitoring of funds going to Ukraine. Storch seemingly evaded Gaetz's questions, while Under Secretary for Policy, Dr. Colin Kahl confirmed the presence of "a couple dozen" U.S. personnel present but could not state the purpose of their deployment.
