Former DeSantis Official Believes Trump can get Fair Trial in New York City

Share

After former President Donald Trump was arraigned on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York City, it was learned that the judge presiding over the criminal case donated to President Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign, and other progressive and anti-Republican grassroots organizations during the same election cycle. Former Governor Ron DeSantis official and Florida Congressman Jared Moskowitz (D) believes that Merchan can still be impartial, and dismissed the “$15” donation the judge assigned to the case made to the 2020 Joe Biden for President campaign.

“You are talking to someone who put his political views aside to do a job for the Governor of the opposite party,” stated Rep. Moskowitz in a statement to The Floridian. “So I believe people can do the job they are tasked. That said, the $15 he donated bought 3 dozen eggs. Clearly was a decisive donation.”

Judge Juan Merchan’s donation to Biden’s campaign was a mere $15, but Republicans and Trump believe that the donation is significant in that it could show bias against Trump in the case against him.

In addition, Judge Merchan presided over the much-hyped arraignment and the recently concluded trial of the Trump organization and its CFO Allen Weisselberg.

Weisselberg pled guilty to 15 counts of tax fraud and was sentenced to 5 months in prison and five years probation.

While Trump calls Merchan and his family “Trump haters,” is the donation enough to have the judge recused and case moved to the borough of Staten Island?

Rep. Moskowitz served as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s Director of the Division of Emergency Management (FDEM)during COVID-19. He was appointed by Gov. DeSantis in January 2019.

Both Republicans and Democrats praised Moskowitz’s handling of the pandemic, with Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz saying that he “has been on the frontlines and done a remarkable job” when ran the FDEM.
