Rep. Byron Donalds has introduced the Big Biden Blunder (BBB) Act, which demands accountability from the Biden administration and their handling of the notable day in American history.
Rep. Donalds (R-FL) has not been shy to call out President Joe Biden (D) and his administration for what Republicans would call failures during his tenure in office, especially the botched Afghanistan withdrawal. Because of this, the U.S. Congressman from Floria is looking for the Commander-In-Chief to claim responsibility.
“The Biden administration’s disastrous, hasty, and poorly executed withdrawal from Afghanistan has left a permanent stain on our nation’s military prestige,” stated Rep. Donalds.
“Thirteen dead U.S. servicemembers, over $85 billion of military equipment and hundreds of Americans left behind, coupled with the images of desperate individuals falling to their deaths from the wings of American aircraft, will forever haunt and tarnish the Biden administration’s foreign policy agenda.”
The bill’s name, which is a play-on-words of President Biden’s "Build Back Better" initiative, looks to change the meaning of the three-letter acronym nationwide.
“This debacle never should have happened and has only emboldened the worst fantasies of our hegemonic adversaries. We need answers and accountability now because Biden’s promise to Build Back Better has resulted in nothing more than a Big Biden Blunder,” said Donalds.
The bill would require the Comptroller General of the United States to provide a report concerning the effects of the withdrawal from Afghanistan on the American economy within 90 days, should the bill be enacted.
According to the Donalds press release, the report shall “study whether destroying, surrendering, or abandoning equipment and property of the United States in Afghanistan has caused any inflationary effect in the United States to date.”
Representatives Rick Crawford (R-AR), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), Russell Fry (R-SC), Diana Harshbarger (R-TN) and Troy Nehls (R-TX) joined Donalds’ new initiative as original co-sponsors.
Following the one-year anniversary of the tragedy that saw 13 U.S. servicemembers dead, Rep. Donalds urged the President to resign, stating that “their deaths fall directly at the feet of President Biden, who chose to build a legacy over enacting the appropriate plan to withdraw from the region.”
