The Floridian Poll: DeSantis Outperforms Trump Against Biden in Miami-Dade

Share

As the expected 2024 Republican presidential primary slugfest between former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis draws near, a new public opinion survey conducted by The Floridian shows that Gov. DeSantis outperforms President Trump in a hypothetical general election contest against President Joe Biden.

The survey, which was exclusively conducted in the all-important, and most populous county in Florida, Miami-Dade, shows that Gov. DeSantis polls higher than President Biden by a 40-30% margin with 17 percent of those likely voters poll being undecided, and 14 percent said that they would vote for someone else.

While Gov. DeSantis leads President Biden by 10 percentage points, President Biden leads President Trump by 6 percentage points.

Of those voters polled, 24 percent said they would support someone other than Biden or Trump, while 14 percent said they were not sure who they would support.

In the 2020 presidential election, Biden defeated Trump by 7 points in Miami-Dade, but lost the state to the former president by 3 points.

DeSantis’s 10 percentage point lead over Biden in the new poll Miami-Dade County is in line with the results of the 2020 Midterm election results in the county where DeSantis defeated Democrat Charlie Crist by 11 percentage points. DeSantis flipped traditionally "Blue" Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties.

Methodology

The poll was conducted National Victory Strategies and Groundswell Strategies  March 4-7 and consisted of 409 likely Republican, Democratic, and Independent countywide voters, who were contacted by bilingual interviewers on their land lines and cellphones. The survey has a margin of error of +/- 4.9%.
