Rubio Slams Russia's 'Third World Tactics'

Share

Chinese President Xi Jinping, started the week off by meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The meeting raises questions about their relationship as both countries are embroiled in a feud with the United States.

As well, the meeting comes days after Putin was charged with war crimes. In response to the meeting, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) slammed Russia's "third world tactics" of intimidation.

Senator Rubio took to social media to comment on the recent meeting between Jinping and Putin while also commenting on the speculated arrest of President Donald Trump (R). Over the weekend, President Trump wrote on Truth social that he would be getting arrested on Tuesday, and this incited a media frenzy as Trump's supporters and lawmakers question the nature of his arrest.

Taking a slight at New York City District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Rubio compared the arrest to the tactics used in Russia, Venezuela, and Nicaragua.

"In Russia,Venezuela & Nicaragua prosecutors are used as political weapons to harass, arrest & disqualify opposition political candidates," Rubio said, adding that he prays the United States "will never tolerate, much less support either party bringing these third world tactics here to America."

President Trump also commented on the arrest, citing that it's an "intimidation" tactic aimed at dissuading the American people from voting for him in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

Rubio has been a vocal critic of China, Russia, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, and he has been sanctioned by China.

During the meeting between Putin and Jinping, Putin referred to Jinping as a "dear friend," flaunting the relationship that both nations have.

Jinping denounced the international court ruling against Putin, and Jinping continued to highlight China's proposal to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

"Under your strong leadership, Russia has made great strides in its prosperous development," Jinping told Putin.
