Recently, Aetna Better Health of Florida CEO Jennifer Sweet attended the Florida Coalition for Children “Rally in Tally” event in the state’s capital city to focus on importance of children’s health and wellness around the state.
According to Aetna’s website, they are “committed to providing individuals, employers, health care professionals and producers with innovative benefits, products and services.”
The Florida arm of the company, moreover, is devoted to facilitating towards those who qualify for Medicaid in the state.
The organization which according to CEO Sweet, is “100% devoted to the Medicaid space in Florida, to provide plans to all different populations that all fall under the Medicaid umbrella, and when you’re in the space, you aren’t just in health care, you are very much a participant in a social policy that is delivering the right care, the right services, and right social benefits.”
Around the turn of the new year, the Florida branch donated $135,000 to Feeding NE Florida, as well as provided hundreds of hygiene kits and health resources to families in need in Tampa.
“This is a special space, and often the people who work in this space like myself are mission driven to that very point. And nobody makes us do these things. It’s what you sign up for though, when you’re in this line of business because they need more than just the services…There’s just so much more that is needed,” stated Sweet.
She would go on to mention the scope of the company's vision towards how they use their resources.
"We are under a state contract. So we have a very specific provision of services that we must adhere to and we want to adhere to it. Most times we are best positioned to give money to another organization like the Florida Coalition of Children to advance their mission, and then our staff literally does contribute time, and sometimes extra resources in a small amount; but it's not about us...we really just try to support through both underwriting and (contributing) staff time to helping throw events like (the Rally in Tally)."
It appears that the Florida branch is dedicated to going beyond the call of duty in the Sunshine State.
