With an antisemitic group calling for a "National Day of Hate" this coming weekend, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has directed the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to lobby local police departments or other law enforcement departments to prepare and address the upcoming and potentially violent organized protest.
“Violence, threats of violence, and physical intimidation will not be tolerated against the Jewish community in Florida and has no place in our state. Such actions will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. FDLE is partnering with local law enforcement agencies to enhance response capabilities and ensure that Florida’s Jewish community is safe and well-supported," stated FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass.
Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava (D) says that there is "zero tolerance for hate crimes" in Miami-Dade County.
"As Miami-Dade’s first Jewish mayor, I am deeply disturbed by reports of a planned “Day of Hate” this weekend. Let me be clear: We have zero tolerance for hate crimes or acts of violence in our community. If you see something, please say something immediately by calling 911," tweeted Mayor Cava.
