Ron DeSantis Donald Trump
With former President Donald Trump announcing his candidacy for a second term and the possibility of Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) throwing his hat in the ring seemingly growing by the day, it is understandable that debates about who the Republicans should nominate are heating up.
As Presidential primary season draws nearer, those in politics – especially in the state of Florida – are being forced to declare allegiances for who they believe should sit in the Oval Office next.
For instance, investigative journalist and former U.S. Congress candidate Laura Loomer is challenging State Senator Blaise Ingoglia (R-FL) and whether he will support President Trump or Gov. DeSantis.
“@GovGoneWild, you told Billy Cacey, a pro Trump Citrus County committeeman, 3 mo ago that Donald Trump ‘should not run in 2024 because he’s old & broke & his family doesn’t want him to ru’”. You also told him you are 100% in support of DeSantis running in 2024. Say it publicly,” stated Loomer.
State Sen. Ingoglia stated that it was “another lie” and that “I’ve never said that about our former President.”
However, The Floridian has obtained a statement from the aforementioned Billy Cacey in which he recalls Ingoglia telling him in October of 2022. Cacey told us that “I called Blaise Ingoglia in October 2022 and asked him if Trump is going to run for president in 2024. His answer was Trump is old, broke, and his family doesn't want him to run. He also stated the Republican nominee will be Ron DeSantis. It was at this point I knew he was jumping off of the Trump Train and jumping on to the DeSantis Train.”
He would go on to mention that “Governor DeSantis needs to abide by his commitment to govern the State of Florida for the next four years and run for President in 2028.”
It appears that the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) is a big family.
