Waltz Calls on Biden to Pressure Others in Funding Ukraine

As the war between Ukraine and Russia continues, providing further funding for Ukraine has become a topic of contention in the United States. Congressional Democrats support sending more funding and resources to Ukraine, but Republicans have grown weary of the measures. Florida Rep. Mike Waltz (R) discussed sending tanks to Ukraine on Fox News this weekend, questioning recent support from Germany.

Waltz, who’s been a vocal critic of the Biden administration, continues to call on the president to be more direct and stricter in his approach to other countries.

“While Germany FINALLY sent tanks to Ukraine, it’s ridiculous they refused do it [sic] until the U.S. sent ours first given all that America has already provided,” shared Waltz on Twitter.

“Biden needs to push the Europeans MUCH HARDER to step up to defend their own backyard,” Rep. Waltz warned.

The Florida Republican shared an interview with Fox News wherein he assessed what Ukraine needs from countries in order to push back against Russia.

During the interview, Waltz commented that the European and United States systems “are far superior than what the Russians can field. That said, the Russians have been digging in tank traps in the east. They still have attack helicopters. They still have the ability to hit these tanks with air support, so it’s going to take combined arms – artillery, infantry, armor, and air support all working together, and that’s… where the training for the Ukrainians is going to be so important.”

Waltz shared another excerpt from an interview.

"What is the strategic end state that's in line with U.S. goals? If, on the one hand, Putin has declared parts of the Donbas and the Crimea as under its nuclear umbrella, and on the other hand Zelensky is saying an outcome is not acceptable for him until he drives Russia off its soil. What is the United States prepared to do?" Waltz questioned.
