Less than a day after the Lunar New Year mass shooting at a ballroom dance club in the city of Monterey Park, California where 10 innocent people were killed and 10 others wounded, congressional Democrats, including Rep. Maxwell Frost, were too quick to pass blame on ‘bigotry’ against the Asian community.
“My heart is with the AAPI community today and with the victims of this senseless act of hate. The rise in violence against the Asian American Pacific Islander community is unmistakable, and we must come together as a nation to condemn hatred in all forms,” stated Rep. Frost.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna tweeted that the suspect in the shooting was an Asian man, who has now been identified as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran.
The suspect is said to have tried to enter another social gathering in the neighboring city of Torrance but was disarmed by patrons.
On Sunday, police officials announced that the alleged suspect in the mass shooting was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a white van after a stand-off with police.
Rep. Adam Schiff appears to have jumped the gun as well, blaming the shooting on the same “bigotry toward AAPI individuals” Rep. Frost mentioned.
“Ten dead in Monterey Park. I am sickened. A horrific example of needless gun violence. With bigotry toward AAPI individuals as a possible motive. The families are in my prayers as we seek information by law enforcement. We’ll never quit demanding real action on gun safety,” tweeted Rep. Schiff.
Congressional Democrats and anti-gun lobby advocates have been quick to politicize every alleged mass shooting across the country, claiming that in order to stop gun violence, guns must be banned.
Rep. Frost has been one of the loudest supporters for banning firearms.
“Gun violence is an everyday occurrence, the Supreme Court has stripped away abortion rights, & affordable housing is in a crisis. We need bold leaders who will fight for transformational change. A leader who will fight for Orlando” stated Rep. Frost on one of his congressional campaign ads.
