Rick Scott Shares Skepticism for the $1.7 Trillion Omnibus Spending Bill

Share

In 2010, House Minority Leader at the time Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) famously quoted “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” This was in reference to health care reform legislation (ObamaCare) that was eventually passed. Now, with the 4,000-page, $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill that was sent to the President’s desk to be signed, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) is claiming that this Pelosi-Schumer backed bill doesn’t distribute funds despite the American people not knowing where every dollar is going.

“Anyone who voted to pass the $1.7 TRILLION 4,000+ pg Pelosi-Schumer spending bill shamelessly spent YOUR tax dollars without KNOWING WHERE YOUR MONEY WAS GOING. It's killing our economy & why we're seeing pending home sales have the LARGEST year-over-year decline EVER,” tweeted Sen. Scott.

Many have criticized parts of the bill which includes tens of millions of more funding to the Ukrainian defense in their war against Russia, $500k for a skatepark, and $2 million for “dirt-bike culture.”

“Democrats' game plan to restore our economy & help American families is to double down on the atrocious policies that got us here in the first place. The MASSIVE $1.7T spending bill they passed last week is just the latest example! It's not working, & I'm fighting to stop it,” tweeted Scott.

Rep.-elect Cory Mills (R-FL) was incredibly critical of the bill as well, stating that the American people “deserve to know where our money is being spent.”

"Every single person, all of my colleagues, everyone in the press corps, is American taxpayers. We deserve to know where our money is being spent, and where it's being utilized,” stated Rep.-elect Mills in mid-November while demanding an audit of the Ukrainian funds in his first press conference after winning election to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Scott and Mills are not alone in their skepticism of the Pelosi-Schumer backed bill. However, 18 Republican Senators did vote to pass it.
