The contributions the nation's military women make to the overall national defense are considered no less valuable than those of men. This past week, Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL-3) teamed up with Women's Caucus Chair Rep. Brenda Lawrence (D-MI) to introduce a resolution honoring the Memorial's 25th anniversary.
As Cammack describes in her press release, the Military Women's Memorial documents more than three million American servicewomen since the Revolution. Moreover, it is the only historical repository dedicated exclusively for this purpose. Additionally, the week before Memorial Day, the Women's Caucus pays tribute to those lost, while honoring one woman currently serving in each of the six military branches.
"I'm proud to join Rep. Lawrence in co-leading this resolution commemorating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Military Women’s Memorial," Cammack says. "As one of the vice chairs of the Congressional Women's Caucus, I’ve been proud to support and pay tribute to our female servicemembers at the memorial in Arlington National Cemetery each year around Memorial Day. To our women in uniform, a grateful nation thanks you for your service and stands with you every step of the way," she continues.
Cammack recently tweeted about the resolution, saying that she "joined @RepLawrence and several of my colleagues on H.Res. 1497, a resolution to honor the 25th anniversary of the @womensmemorial at Arlington National Cemetery."
This resolution comes in the wake of Cammack's battle for border security. In October, she lambasted the Biden administration's call for military service members to volunteer in helping with the ongoing border crisis. "The men and women protecting this nation are basically turned into glorified babysitters and processing papers. It’s just obnoxiously disrespectful," she says, referring to the laxity in which illegal border crossers are given.
