Byron Donalds Calls for Government Shutdown Amid Border Crisis Inaction

Share

The Border Crisis while being the Biden Administration's biggest weakness, has led to other epidemics in America, such as the spike in fentanyl deaths.  Now, US Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) is calling for a government shut down amid Biden's failure to act on the Border Crisis.

Donalds has been a staunch critic of the Biden Administration since his election in 2020 to the House of Representatives.  Donalds did not fail to blame others for the government's failure to act, such as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

Donalds' criticism of Republican leadership has been echoed by other Florida Republicans, like US Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and is a symptom of the current divide that exists within the Republican party at a national level.

Fox News hosted Donalds where he listed all of the problems that have risen due to an open Southern Border.  "if Joe Biden and the Democrats won't do something simple, like securing our border, making sure fentanyl isn't rushing people in our streets and killing them, and making sure we don't have an open border so that young women aren't being trafficked and raped by the drug cartels, then maybe the federal government should be shut down!"

After his fiery rant Donalds claimed that Democrats and Mitch McConnell, "should not be leading," if the same problems continue to be pervasive for the American public.

Florida Republicans have arguably been the most proactive on border issues out of all the non-border states.  US Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) and US Rep-elect Cory Mills (R-FL) have both physically visited the Southern Border in order to bring attention to the conditions there.

Governor DeSantis (R-FL) has taken recent actions to ship illegal immigrants to the North East, however his actions against illegal immigration pre-date the Biden Administration.  At the beginning of his first term as governor, DeSantis signed SB 168 which effectively prohibited the state and local governments from having sanctuary policies.
