Rep. Mast Blames Scary Halloween Prices on Biden

Share

As the Halloween season comes to a close and Americans start turning their attention to not only the ballot box but the Christmas season, prices on material goods are coming into play. Candy sales go through the roof during this time of year, and perhaps people are starting to see a lighter wallet after passing out Milky Ways to trick-or-treaters. Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) is noticing, and he’s pointing the finger at President Joe Biden (D) for the rise in prices.

“Just look at the price of candies for example: overall, candy prices have jumped 13 percent compared to last year,” writes Rep. Mast. “The data shows that the prices of M&M went up 14 percent, while the prices of Starburst and Skittles went up 35 percent and 42 percent, respectively. Costumes and pumpkins have also increased over the past year.”

As it appears the American electorate’s number 1 issue this election cycle is the economy and inflation, it has been Republicans that hammered the President for the historic numbers as they’ve been released throughout the last two years.

The nation went through a recession (which for decades has been defined as two quarters of decline of growth in GDP) earlier this year, the Biden administration swore that the U.S. was not in a recession. Mast is stating that his policies of continual spending is causing this trend.

“What’s causing these downright frightening prices? President Biden has doubled down on failed economic policies. Instead of focusing on bringing down the costs of basic items on grocery shelves, he continues his tax-and-spending sprees to fund a far-left agenda,” wrote Mast in a blog post.

However, depending upon the results of the upcoming midterms, there could be a roadblock to Joe Biden’s plan of action for the country. As of now, the Democrats hold the White House and both chambers of Congress. But with a reactionary right-leaning response on November 8th, Biden’s agenda could look a little different.

Rep. Mast concluded, “From candy prices on Halloween to shipping delays on Christmas gifts, Joe Biden’s policies continue to take the fun out of the holidays.  That’s why I’ll continue to fight for pro-growth policies that will lower prices and get our economy back on track,” and that he will “keep pushing the Biden Administration to reverse course.”
