Donalds, House Oversight Committee Launches Investigation into Joe Biden

Now that the Republicans have officially retaken the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, they now control various committees and have the ability to launch investigations on a Congressional scale. And despite their slim majority, the failure of Republicans to take back the Senate puts them in a position to scrutinize the Biden administration through the House Oversight Committee much like Democrats did the Trump administration between 2018-2020.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), who sits on the House Oversight Committee, has announced an investigation of the President Joe Biden (D) and his family’s business dealings.

“This is an investigation of Joe Biden, the President of the United States and why he lied to the American people about his knowledge and participation in his family’s international business schemes,” said Rep. James Comer (R-KY) with Donalds right behind him. “To be clear: Joe Biden is the ‘big guy.’ This evidence raises troubling questions about whether President Biden is a national security risk and about whether he is compromised by foreign governments,” continued Rep. Comer.

Rep. Donalds was asked by Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum whether the investigation is appropriate and whether it will turn up any evidence.

“Well, two things: Number one, we think the time is definitely appropriate. We told voters across the country that Republicans mean business…we have received information from whistleblowers, we’ve received information in the two suspicious activity reports about what Hunter Biden’s financial dealings are, which really opened up the way to actually drive more investigations,” stated Donalds.

He would also go on to say that the Republicans are not starting an investigation and then hoping to find evidence; but believe they have received enough information that gives them the proper reasoning to open an inquiry.

“Unlike the Democrats, we don’t have a goal in mind. And then we’re just going to prosecute and find different ways to get there. We’re going to let the evidence and the details dictate where this goes,” mentioned Donalds.

If the Republicans confidence in this investigation proves them right, it would solidify itself as a massive scandal for the Biden family.
