Ahead of election night, the Demings campaign is urging voters to help her campaign “Retire Rubio.” President Donald Trump (R) joined Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) at a campaign rally, endorsing Rubio and urging Republicans to reelect him. However, the Demings campaign has released a new advertisement, referencing the 2016 presidential election.

During the 2016 election cycle, President Trump and Senator Rubio were GOP rivals, and the Republican primary famously saw Trump call Rubio “Little Marco.”

As such, Demings has released an advertisement wherein President Trump criticizes Rubio as someone who “never even shows up to vote.” As well, Demings released a slew of tweets, providing reasons why they need to “Retire Rubio.”

“Reason #31 why we need to Retire Rubio: if he is re-elected, Florida’s workers will not receive the fair wages and benefits they have earned,” shared Demings, commenting on Rubio’s defense of the second amendment.

“Let’s be clear: there’s no contradiction between standing by our Second Amendment and keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and terrorists,” Demings shared, calling it an effort to keep “our communities safe.”

“Shame on Marco Rubio for using the Pulse Nightclub shooting as an excuse to run for re-election after his failed presidential run, and then do nothing about gun violence,” she added.

Though Trump and Rubio were rivals in 2016, President Trump has now endorsed Rubio, highlighting some of his efforts in the Senate. During their joint rally, Trump praised Rubio, calling Demings "a radical left maniac."

Trump detailed that Demings "voted with Biden and crazy Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time over the last two years," adding that she "voted for every single one of Joe Biden’s inflation causing spending bills, one of the big reasons for inflation."

Trump also differentiated between the two candidates' support for law-and-order, expressing that “Marco is endorsed by practically every police and law enforcement organization in the state of Florida. And he is truly a candidate and the candidate for law and order.”
