As hurricane recovery efforts continue across much of the state of Florida, a new Mason-Dixon public opinion poll released this morning shows that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is beating the Democratic gubernatorial nominee by 11 percentage points.
Considering that Florida is seen as a swing or purple state, this lead Gov. DeSantis holds over Crist is huge.
DeSantis leads Crist 52% to 41% with only 6% of those surveyed being undecided on who they will vote for in next month's midterm elections. While DeSantis enjoys a 92% approval and support from Republicans, the biggest number to look at is the 52%-39% support he has among Independent voters.
Is it too early for the Fat Lady to sing, or for DeSantis to stick a fork into the hopes and dreams of the Florida Democratic Party?
Maybe.
DeSantis also has 50%-33% name favorability advantage over Crist, and 7% of Democrats say they support his efforts, while only 3% of Republicans are saying that they would back Crist instead of DeSantis.
In addition, DeSantis's support is evenly distributed around all regions of the state.
