Scott Calls for America to Renew 'Never Again' Promise

In a recent Op-Ed with the Washington Times, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) has a standard for the United States to renew and to continue to uphold: the idea of “never again.” America has dedicated itself to teaching young students about the horrors of the Second World War and all that it produced, especially the Holocaust.

The Holocaust is a concept that is required learning in almost every K-12 school throughout the nation, committing the country’s youth the idea that society should never let genocide occur again. The former Governor of Florida spoke on this notion, and how we face a similar situation with the invasion of Ukraine in the present time.

“It is time for America to lead our freedom-loving partners across the world to renew our commitment to ‘never again,’ support the massive humanitarian efforts underway to aid Ukrainian refugees and those who are helping them, and forcefully condemn the genocide occurring at the direction of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine,” said Scott.

After the atrocities that the Jewish community faced during Hitler’s rise to power and the utter destruction that the nation of Poland went through due to the Nazi aggression, Rick Scott acknowledged the resolve of the Polish people, and their generosity towards the Ukrainian people in their time of need.

“I thank God for the incredible hospitality of the Polish people to welcome these Ukrainian families. I am grateful, too, for what other European countries are doing to help them,” said the Senator. “Now, we must do everything in our power, using our voices, actions and resources, to support these humanitarian missions and forcefully condemn Mr. Putin’s genocide in Ukraine.

Whether we like it or not, we need to recognize the evil in our world. It exists in the governments of communist China, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Russia. They want a different world, one where the enemies of democracy, human rights and sovereign nations issue the orders and the United States and our allies do what we are told. They will bully and crush anyone in their way if they are allowed. I for one, and I know I am not alone, will not accept this.”

According to Scott, right now the world is failing that promise we made after the WWII. And “The protection of human rights and the survival of democracy and the Unites States depends on it.”
