Nunez Tells "Radical Puppet" Crist His "Pandering" to Latinos Won't Work

Share

In the 2022 midterms, as is with every election, candidates are seeking to gain the support of key voting demographics. There is outreach, and then there is pandering. Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez (R-FL) says Democratic candidate for Governor Charlie Crist is performing the latter in seeking the support of Latinos in an appearance on Newsmax's National Report.

The segment starts with footage of Crist saying that as the grandson of Greek and Lebanese immigrants, he is no stranger to spicy "Hispanic-type" cuisine and two shorter clips of him speaking Spanish.

Host Shaun Kraisman simply asks, "Does this backfire on Charlie Crist?"

Nunez responds, "'Absolutely. First of all, not all Hispanics are alike, we are not all Mexican, they're known for their spicy food. I am of Cuban descent, we don't really cook with spice. So his lame attempt at pandering, his lame attempt at trying to be cute and speak Spanish, it's not going to work."

Nunez then cuts sharply at Crist saying that "we see through your facade, we know that you're a radical puppet of Joe Biden, and you're going to govern like Joe Biden. And so we're not going to allow you to even come close to the governor's mansion."

Nunez then explains why Gov. DeSantis will retain his post, saying, "what we've seen in Florida is a tremendous, important, what we've seen here is, really, so many Republicans, so many people that are flocking to the Republican Party."

"It's been an initiative that we've seen here, people understand Governor DeSantis's leadership as it relates to our Freedom First policies, making sure people can earn a living, go to school, go worship their Creator, that's why so many people are flocking to the Republican Party.," she added. We've seen a net advantage of voter registration, from Democrats to Republican, we have yielded over 250,000 new voters in our party, and I think the message is going to be loud and clear: your pandering isn't going to work."

The clip was posted by DeSantis War Room Tuesday morning.

"Not all Hispanics are alike," @JeanetteNunezFL responds to @CharlieCrist. "I'm of Cuban descent, we don't really cook with spice. So his lame attempt at pandering...It's not gonna work. We see through your facade. You're a radical puppet of Joe Biden," the tweet reads.
