Sarasota—Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has updated Floridians on the imminent impact that Hurricane Ian will levy on Southwest Florida.
The news is not good for Florida.
All of the tracking of the storm has it coming ashore just south of Tampa, but because these storms are so unpredictable, it is hard to say exactly where the eye will come ashore.
“Anyone on the Gulf Coast, prepare for impact,” said Gov. DeSantis
“It is a big storm. It is going to kick up a lot of water as it comes in and you are going to end up with a really significant storm surge. You are going to end up with really significant flood events, and this is the type of storm surge that is life-threatening,” said DeSantis
DeSantis also added that the storm is anticipated to slow down significantly and “its going to dump an inordinate amount of rain” that will cause flooding.
“There is a potential of 10-15 feet of storm surge,” added DeSantis, saying, “It’s hard to deal with 10 feet of water.”
