Although Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has led in all of the 2022 gubernatorial public opinion polls, a new survey indicates that Florida Rep. Charlie Crist's (D) campaign might be picking up steam.
The gubernatorial hopeful has directed criticism at the Governor and his supporters, which has been met with controversy. However, DeSantis has also responded to Crist, saying that Crist and the Democrats "hate you."
The former governor of Florida took to social media to signal that a new poll showed Crist with rising numbers, in contrast, to support for Governor DeSantis.
Commenting that the numbers showed that DeSantis was "beatable," Crist added that Democrats will ensure they "stop him" in the upcoming November election.
DeSantis, who rarely commented on his political opponents heading into the midterm election, has now laser-focused comments on Crist, saying that Crist and Democrats think voters "are second-class citizens just because you don’t think like they do."
Biden found himself embroiled in controversy after commenting that "MAGA" Republicans are "fascists," and Biden officials have since doubled down on the comments. Moreover, Crist shrugged off the votes of those who support DeSantis, saying that their heart is full of "hate."
This has angered DeSantis and Republicans, and now DeSantis continues to issue messages to his supporters, saying that Democrats like Crist are not interested in unifying the country. Instead, DeSantis says that Democrats are interested in dividing the country into two groups: "those who are with them and those who are not."
"New York’s governor told 5.4 million Republican citizens they don’t belong and to pack up and leave the state because they 'are not New Yorkers,' said DeSantis, calling on voters to create a "firewall for freedom fighters everywhere."
New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) has faced criticism over her comments directed at New York Republicans, which has bolstered the campaign of challenger Lee Zelding (R).
