Democrats Praise Biden's Divisive Speech, Republicans Condemn It

In 2020, then-presidential candidate Jose Biden ran for President as a unifier, saying former President Trump was a divisive leader. Less than two years later, President Biden seems to have changed his tune. In a speech given Thursday night in Philadelphia, Biden hammered relentlessly on "MAGA Republicans" and their supposed threat to democracy.

"As I stand here tonight, equality and democracy are under assault," said Biden, adding, "MAGA forces are determined to take this country backward, Backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy. No right to contraception, no right to marry who you love."

Rep. Anna Eskamani (D-FL-47) tweeted that Biden "is not just calling out MAGA Republicans," but also "speaking to what Democrats envision for the future."

".@POTUS is not just calling out MAGA Republicans, he’s also speaking to what Democrats envision for the future, a country where no one is left behind," she stated.

Similarly, Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL-23), while not referring directly to Biden's speech, uses the "extreme MAGA Republicans" in reference to defending abortion rights.

"I will keep fighting for #PeopleOverPolitics and against any Extreme MAGA Republicans who seek to criminalize women for having an abortion and dismantle Social Security and Medicare. #VoteBlue2022," tweeted Rep. Wasserman Schultz.

But while Democrats have been praising Biden, Republicans are calling the speech "divisive" and "dangerous."

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL-1) says it is "ironic" that Biden, whom he calls a "failing dictator," and Democrats call Republicans "fascist" when they are the ones raiding the houses of political opponents and "explicitly divide the citizenry based on race."

"It’s ironic that @JoeBiden calls MAGA the fascists. History teaches us it’s the failing dictators in demise who raid the homes of their political opponents and explicitly divide the citizenry based on race," says Gaetz.

Meanwhile, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL-19) calls Biden's speech "outrageous" and says the President is "willfully ignorant" of the border crisis and threats towards Supreme Court Justices. Donalds also attacks Biden for his unauthorized lifting of student debt.

"This is an outrageous speech by an American President. Someone should remind @JoeBiden that he is willfully ignoring federal law at the southern border, he said nothing when Supreme Court justices were threatened, and he is forgiving debt with NO authorization from Congress," his full tweet reads.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) took a more mocking route, calling Biden an "angry man" smearing "half the people of the country he is supposed to lead and promised to unite."

"Angry man smears half of the people of the country he is supposed to lead & promised to unite," Rubio ridiculed.

Biden's new-found political tone continues to push the anti-Trump, Progressive narrative that Democrats have been campaigning on since 2016. This Democratic message could very well lead to the complete demise of the Democrat Party's overall control of the U.S. Congress.

Voters in Republican-leaning and swing state and federal districts have rejected the Democratic Socialism ideology, and appear poised to hand Democrats another demoralizing election day loss.
